Kindness is NEVER SCARY! It makes room for inclusion.
Fun
Halloween is a BIG deal to many and then a not so big deal so others.
Whatever your take is on Halloween, it can still be a time all children enjoy the beginning of fall. It is a perfect time to show children why change is necessary but, can lead to something beautiful.
You can make crafts with the leaves, you decorate pumpkins. You can paint positive messages on them. You can incorporate reading and draw pictures of their favorite characters based on their favorite book on the pumpkin.
In you want to have a little Halloween fun with snacks you can make jello cups that look like Frankenstein or pizza that looks like a mummy.
Safety and inclusion
If you and your child(ren) are going to celebrate Halloween I trust you will give them all the “Do’s & Don’ts” about waiting until they get home to consume any candy.
You may also want to consider an non-candy or nut treat option, for children’s with diabetes or a nut allergy.
Also let them know if they see a child with the turquoise plastic pumpkin with the black handle, that is another way to make them aware of another reason to be aware of their surroundings, and considerate of ALL.
Can you imagine what the world would be like if we taught the children how to consider others? After all, there are all sorts of different ways to have fun with people that are different for them for whatever the reason!
This is a perfect and fun way to create memories, a sense of community, awareness and inclusion for all. A sentiment we need now more than ever.
Since you stayed til the end, in the words of Tiny Tamara (“T.T.”) -“Thank you friend, see you soon.”
